About the MX Record Lookup

MX (mail exchanger) records tell the world which servers accept email for a domain, and in what order. A wrong or missing MX record means lost email — usually without anyone noticing.

Frequently asked questions

What does MX priority mean?

Lower numbers are tried first. Servers with the same number share the load; higher numbers are backups.

Why does my domain have no MX record?

Then senders fall back to the A record, which rarely runs a mail server — so email bounces. Add the MX records your email provider gives you.

What is a null MX ('0 .')?

A domain that publishes '0 .' declares it never receives email. That's correct for domains used only for websites.
