About the Keyword Difficulty Checker

Keyword difficulty (KD) estimates how hard it is to rank in Google's top 10 for a keyword. It mostly depends on how strong the pages already ranking are — especially how many quality sites link to them.

Nuqti looks at the current top results, measures the authority and backlinks behind them and returns a 0–100 score with a plain-language reason and an estimate of how many referring domains you need.

How to use it

Frequently asked questions

What is a good keyword difficulty?

0–10 easy, 10–30 medium, 30–50 hard, 50–70 very hard, 70+ super hard. New sites should start under 20.

How is keyword difficulty calculated?

From the strength of the pages already in the top 10: their sites' authority and how many unique domains link to each ranking page.

Can I rank for a high difficulty keyword?

Yes, with a great page and enough quality backlinks — but it takes time. Target easier long-tail versions first to build authority.

Why does difficulty differ between SEO tools?

Each tool uses its own link data and formula. Treat KD as a relative guide, and look at the actual results too.
